The energising island of O’ahu offers the perfect combination of both city vibes and relaxing country experiences. From world-class hotels, dining and shopping in Honolulu, to the tranquil nature, surf beaches and laid back towns in the surrounding areas.
Yes, Global is taking place in iconic Waikiki. And outside of Global there’s so much more to see and do – I’d highly recommend exploring every part while you’re there!
Together, Flightie Global Ambassadors Alex, Liz & Carolyn came up with the top 3 things you’ll definitely love about Waikiki. And all within walking distance of your hotel…
Le’Ahi (Diamond Head)
Gain some perspective of O’ahu’s geology and geography – grab your hiking boots and take an early morning hike to the top of Diamond Head.
“I can’t believe we almost didn’t get to do this one! I mean, what sort of crazy people wake up before dawn so that they can hike to the top of a mountain before they get on flight home? Well, Flighties are that kind of crazy, and I’m so glad we did. There were loads of people, but watching the sunrise at this iconic spot was absolutely breathtaking — hiking altitude notwithstanding. Definitely make the time to do it, even if it is before that charter home.” – Alex, Corporate Traveller
From designer boutiques to farmers markets, Waikiki has shopping for every taste (and budget!)
“Retail shopping should be on your hit list when visiting Hawaii, everything from high end bargains to outlet shopping, it’s all there. As an extra bonus, some shops are open until around 10.00 p m., so on your way home from a lovely dinner you can still get that last minute bargain. Everything imaginable is available from surfboards to the obligatory colorful Hawaiian shirts or a visit to Walmart to get that true American experience! Around the Waikiki area you are spoilt for choice, so many shops and temptations, or if that’s is too much, just sit and have a great coffee with Hawaiian Hula Pie!” – Carolyn, Travel Associates
Without a doubt you’ll find good local food, live music and dancing across a variety of restaurants, bars and lounges.
“Hawaii nightlife? What can I say except for karaoke, dancing, cocktails, and did I mention Karaoke? The nightlife was loads of fun especially with such a great group of flighties. One spot I wouldn’t miss out on would be the nightclub at the Sheraton Waikiki, if drinking and dancing aren’t your style it’s even great for people watching. Another great spot to watch the sunset is Sky Waikiki, also on the main strip” – Liz, Flight Centre
What are you waiting for? There are so many things to see and do in Waikiki, and Global is fast approaching. Work hard and get yourself to global!
